Community Development Organization Uruguay

Community Development Organization Uruguay is a civil society organization that seeks to overcome the situation of poverty for millions of people living in popular settlements, through the joint action of their inhabitants and the young volunteers who work with the organization in 19 countries in Latin America.  The organization works together with impoverished communities to improve their habitats and living conditions, to promote economic and social development, and to encourage civic action and advocacy.

Possible Intern Roles:

Research and Analysis

The intern will conduct a strategic analysis of key parts of the organization in order to improve internal processes.  A possible project focus would be on analyzing the volunteer system, since the organization has a large and active corps of volunteers across the country.  The intern would conduct a historical analysis of volunteer participation and training, with a review of the number of volunteers needed to guarantee an effective volunteer cycle and, in turn, to maintain operability. 

Suggested Spanish level: Intermediate
Candidate requirements: The ideal candidate will be interested in human resources, engineering, architecture, process engineering, social work, sociology, strategy, and/or communications.

Monitoring and Evaluation

The intern will carry out evaluations to measure the social impact of the organization’s key projects.  The intern will review historical evaluation data, meet with program directors, and develop new evaluative tools to measure indicator success.  The project result will be a report with findings and recommendations for how to improve program impact.
