From BA to Iguazú to Patagonia, Argentina is filled with experiences that will push you to grow, engage with the culture, and change your perspective. Working and living in Argentina will not only give you a different angle on workplace culture, but it will show you how to live locally which is a unique adventure on its own.

Through Puentes and my internship, I was invited into a space that made me feel comfortable yet challenged. The time I spent in the office and with coworkers is what I will cherish the most of this summer.

I fell in love with Buenos Aires over the course of this program and gained such valuable career, social, and personal experience. You learn a lot about yourself through this program, and it's certainly pushes you outside of your comfort zone in many ways. But that's the best part about it, and while Puentes is definitely there to help you through any tough times, you also have the independence to grow on your own throughout your time there.

Through Puentes, I furthered my global curiosity and had a wonderful experience enriching myself professionally, personally, and culturally. Now, I want to live abroad post-university and feel confident to do so.

Puentes gave me a unique experience of cultural immersion while allowing me to gain valuable professional experience. I explored possible career paths, learning about criminal law, and engaged in rewarding and challenging work. It was not only a taste of a possible professional career, but a full professional life, in a new and beautiful city.

Even though I wasn't able to go to Buenos Aires in person, I gained valuable professional experience and created international relationships through my remote internship with a Latin American community development NGO, right from my desk at home! Through closely guided mentorship, the Puentes program staff supported and enriched my personal growth all along the way. I cannot recommend the Puentes remote internship experience enough!

Life changing. You will leave Puentes as a stronger individual, smarter individual, and it will allow you to realize how many more opportunities are possible. All you have to do is go.

Everyone at Puentes always had open arms to help me with any struggles I was having within my internship or out. This was a great experience to have for my first internship! I would recommend to anyone interested or considering signing up; this experience changed my personal and professional life for the better!

This experience opened my eyes to what life could be like in a different country. Having a daily routine in Argentina made me appreciate the culture more, and made me reflect on aspects of United States' society which I saw flaws in. Through Puentes, I was able to make friends from a variety of schools, while I also gained a lot of professional knowledge.

Traveling abroad is an eye-opening experience. But working abroad builds a whole different skill set. During my time in Argentina, I have become more resilient and empathetic. Every day, grit and perseverance are what help me adjust to the work culture of an entirely new country. And as time passes, I become more and more at home, not just in my cozy Buenos Aires apartment, but also among my co-workers and my fellow Puentes interns.

The Puentes experience helped me further realize my interest in international business and was overall a positive learning experience where I grew both personally and professionally. I really did have a fantastic summer. I am so glad to have had the chance to work with the Puentes team and I am thankful to have this experience. Thank you for making this experience possible.

My summer (or rather, winter!) in Buenos Aires taught me as much about myself as it did about Argentina. I am so grateful to have experienced the sublime roar of water at Iguazú Falls and the immensity of Purmamarca's high salt flats, to have studied the searing history of Argentina's military junta, as well as the practice of international anti-corruption law, and to have come to know both my fellow Puentes interns and Argentinians, whether they were my coworkers, host family, or people I met on the street. My experience through Puentes was transformative in every sense of the word.

I truly cannot imagine a better way I could have spent the summer after my freshman year. Puentes struck the perfect balance between providing enough of a support system for us to feel comfortable and giving us enough freedom to explore on our own. I walked away with not only an incredibly professionally fulfilling experience, but also greater knowledge of Spanish, a warm relationship with my homestay mom, and a knowledge of and familiarity with Buenos Aires I wouldn't have thought possible to develop over just two months.

Puentes offers so more than just an internship. There is so much value in living in another country, and Buenos Aires is an amazing city. You could get an internship anywhere in the world, or you can do interesting work with a proud organization in Buenos Aires while also learning Spanish and getting an amazing cultural experience at the same time. Puentes allowed me to fall in love with not just my work but also Argentina and Buenos Aires as well.

Through my internship, I have learned a lot. I have been able to learn practical skills at my internship site, soft skills that I will use in future internships and jobs, and I have improved my Spanish. Through Puentes events, I have learned a lot about how to conduct myself while working, developing even more soft skills that will benefit me in any future jobs. Additionally, I’ve made lots of connections and even friendships through Puentes, for which I am very grateful.

I had an amazing Puentes internship that saw me bring a product from concept to launch. Throughout the development phases of my project, I had the opportunity to meet and work with individuals from Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, China, France, and Bangladesh: it was a truly international experience. The work was substantive, challenging, and most importantly of all, fun. I know that the lessons learned from my Puentes experiences have made me a far better working professional, and I look forward to seeing where the product I helped create is years down the road. I could not have asked for more from my Puentes internship.

From the moment I arrived in Buenos Aires, I was greeted by the Puentes staff and reassured that they would be there for whatever I needed. That first weekend was packed with useful information sessions and a great city tour that introduced me to the place I'd call home for the next two months. Curt, Ann, and Alicia were so friendly and often expressed their genuine interest in making our summer full of growth and enjoyable experiences. My internship site was incredible -- definitely something I did not expect, but was my hub of learning, creativity, and friendship. I got to explore the city and other parts of Argentina with other Puentes interns, and those memories are some that I will cherish forever! Overall, I had the most incredible summer with Puentes, and I would do it all again if I had the chance!!

My time in Buenos Aires has provided me with one of the most fulfilling life experiences I could have asked for. From the moment I touched down, The Puentes staff made me feel comfortable navigating my new surroundings. This was only magnified by the wonderful family they arranged that I live with and from the great internship experience I had. The Puentes staff truly leaves no stone un-turned in creating an cultural exchange program that is enriching and will leave its participants craving more. For me, this manifested by becoming a Latin American Studies Major and I can't thank Puentes enough for being a major actor in that decision. This program showed me a language and culture that I fell in love with and I am counting the days until I can visit again!

My time abroad in Buenos Aires has proved to be one of the most fun and formative experiences of my life! Porteños welcome outsiders to experience their culture in a number of ways - food, art, sports, and nightlife to name a few - and my Spanish language skills skyrocketed throughout the time I spent in the city. In addition to Buenos Aires itself and all of its intriguing “barrios,” there are innumerable possibilities for trips outside of the city, to other parts of the country or even to other countries! With the wealth of history and cultural events the city has to offer, it is impossible to be bored in Buenos Aires.

I was in Buenos Aires for a four-month long internship as a part of my graduate program in Germany. It was a great experience to be in that awesome city! I learned and saw so much during that time… I organized my stay with Ann, who leads Puentes. She was super supportive with her Buenos Aires expertise. She is a real Buenos Aires expert with an excellent network in BA, and she really knows where to go and what to do. It was a great experience!

My summer in Buenos Aires was the perfect combination of career development and once-in-a-lifetime adventure. During the workweek, I was exposed to the world of Latin American entrepreneurship through many of the engaging projects I worked on. Weekends exploring the rich offerings of Buenos Aires or traveling the country to experience everything from Iguazú Falls to Patagonia were equally unforgettable. Argentina is an incredible place, and I wouldn’t hesitate to come back and experience it again.

Interning in Buenos Aires was a wonderful and memorable experience thanks to all of the support provided by Puentes. From organizing a comfortable and cultural homestay experience to taking us on city tours, every detail was thoughtfully planned and supplemented a terrific experience gaining professional exposure in Argentina.

My summer in Buenos Aires was absolutely incredible. Every aspect of my trip from my homestay, to my work, to my travels exceeded all expectations. My Spanish improved so much just from interacting with people across the city, and I was exposed to so many different cultures. I could not recommend spending a summer here enough!

My summer in Buenos Aires was the best summer I’ve had in a long time (even though, yes, it was winter in South America). Because of Puentes, I have a much greater sense of empathy for people who move to a new culture. I now have the professional experience and social capital to really pursue my passions and jump-start any career I choose.

Puentes gave me the most unforgettable and enriching summer I could've hoped for as a student just starting to get a sense of my independence away from home and of the aspects of business (being analytical as well as having personal interactions with people) that I love most. In the city of bustling cafes, wide plazas, parrilla smoke and too many alfajor options, I was able to use my Spanish in professional and informal settings, get to know my host and my coworkers, and constantly stay on my toes as I became part of the restless ciudad porteña.

My experience through the Puentes program not only allowed me to learn about my professional development, but also about myself. The opportunity to learn about myself, while learning valuable skills through engaging project-based work at my internship placement. The ability to do all of this in the beautiful city of Buenos Aires, makes Puentes an unforgettable experience.

My summer in Buenos Aires with Puentes was incredible! My job was rewarding, fun, and extremely educational, where I learned more about developing software as a real programmer than I ever could have in a classroom. Culturally, it was an incredible experience going from knowing no Spanish at all to somewhat functional, and traveling to Iguazu, Mendoza, and Salta are simply unforgettable experiences.

As my time with Puentes comes to a close, I can't help but reflect on how helpful it will be for me as I move forward in living more permanently in Buenos Aires. Living with a host family and working with a local NGO were among the best ways to help me get settled within the culture -- I saw firsthand what it was like to live an everyday life here, how local workplaces function, and how much improvement is possible in my Spanish when I lean into the culture. Because of Puentes, I have been able to transition smoothly into living in Buenos Aires; I've joined a local theatre, found professional connections, made local friends, and am still continuing to explore the city every day!

Skip the traditional summer internships: go abroad, and skip studying and living in a dorm there—you do that at home. Go live and work with real porteños, real people. And wonderful people at that! Share mate and asado with your coworkers, laugh and joke with your hosts, listen to the street-fair artisans and booksellers lovingly tell you about their work and their city, and make mountains of mistakes speaking Spanish, because how else do you learn?

My experience exposed me to a new culture and new type of professional setting, I was able to gain insight on the pressing issues different countries in Latin America are dealing with, and I was able to speak another language and gain new language skills in the process! I am grateful and will take away the new found global perspective I have, the Spanish speaking skills I gained, and my new insights into how human rights work is done within this new nonprofit. The experience has definitely confirmed my interests in doing work that has social impact!

The two months I spent in Buenos Aires were unforgettable in many ways. Not only did I learn so much throughout my internship, the support of the Puentes staff helped me a lot in experiencing Argentine culture!

Because of my incredible experience in Buenos Aires, I’ve uncovered a desire to learn more about the world and am now open to the thought of having a career abroad. The insights I’ve uncovered about myself, along with the relationships I’ve made will be what I cherish the most from my Puentes experience.

Buenos Aires is a magical place. It has everything that you could ever want from a city - vibrant nightlife, beautiful parks, dozens of museums, and the warmest of people. I am so grateful that I was given the opportunity to spend two months living there, and wish I could have stayed for even longer. Not to mention that by participating in this program, I was able to experience both personal growth by integrating myself into a new and very different society, as well as professional growth through my internship experience. Would highly recommend participating, and stay as long as you can!

Wanting to have participated in this Puentes Abroad program since last year, I was very set on trying to get matched with a company in Argentina/Uruguay that was related to my field of study. This year, having had to pleasure to be matched with an Argentine firm, I was excited to be able to work for a construction company that had a mission that aligned with my vision. Puentes gave me the opportunity to make the most out of my summer in quarantine through this remote internship with the company that suited me best.

Not only did I have an amazing experience studying abroad in Buenos Aires, but I also had a remarkable opportunity to intern for the Argentine government. As a political science and international studies student, I was able to learn first-hand about an international government. I looked forward to going into work - which was only steps away from La Casa Rosada - and talking to my coworkers who were experts in their field (and also gave me sightseeing advice).

I highly recommend the Puentes experience to anyone looking to develop their professional experience! The Puentes team is so insightful and truly has your best interests in mind and at heart. My remote internship provided me with the opportunity to learn new skills and technology, significantly improve my Spanish, and show me how to communicate effectively with team members. While I would have loved to pair my internship with an in-person immersion, I feel that I gained valuable tools and skill sets to put on my resume through the remote experience.

With Puentes, I was able to intern with a clothing cooperative based in Argentina that works with indigenous women to help bring their products to market. I collaborated with the marketing team to develop strategies for selling in the United States. Through these experiences, I was able to gain insight into future career paths, develop my professional skills, immerse myself in Argentinian culture, and meet an amazing cohort of like-minded individuals.

I absolutely loved the summer I spent in Argentina. It was my first internship outside of the U.S. and I was excited, but I really didn’t know what to expect. Once I arrived in Buenos Aires, I fell in love. While living with other students and working as a business development intern, I was able to engage in interesting work and contribute by reaching out to potential partnering companies. I also had plenty of time to explore the city at my own leisure and fully immerse myself in Argentine culture. Whether I was shopping at an open market, learning to dance tango, catching a performance at the Teatro Colón, or riding horses at the foot of the Andes in Mendoza, I quickly grew fond of the rich traditions and customs of Argentina. Not only did I vastly improve my Spanish and dancing abilities, I also savored every moment of my adventure and hope to return to beautiful Buenos Aires soon.

The vibe of the city takes you to another world… final word, no matter who you speak with they cannot deny that Buenos Aires is anything other than unique. Go!

Interning remotely at Puentes offered me the opportunity to own my project and experience work in a small, entrepreneurial business. I was gifted the ability to work on a project which directly impacted the organization's goals of future growth--an opportunity unique for an internship position. Creating valuable work as an intern pushed me to think critically and be a leader in the organization; I could not recommend the experience more highly. Interning with Puentes is a culturally and professionally enriching experience which will leave you energized by the frontier of possibilities waiting ahead of you.

In living with a host family I engaged in an intensive cultural-immersion program where I was able to truly get a feel for the culture and way of life. I was also fortunate enough to intern for a company in the city where I gained critical work experience and learned so much about the company. Working in an office environment was an amazing way to gain practical experience, improve my language skills and meet great people. Living in Buenos Aires also gave me the opportunity to travel around Argentina, one of the most beautiful, diverse countries in the world. I learned so much from living, studying and interning in Buenos Aires and had an amazing semester!

Before starting an internship with Puentes I was living and studying in Buenos Aires for four months. It was when I started to work however that I felt truly integrated into Argentinian culture and life. I was welcomed into an energetic internship where I was constantly engaged and challenged, and there was always a need for me somewhere. I met incredible children that I will never forget and found lifelong work-place friends.

After studying abroad in Buenos Aires, I wanted to combine cultural immersion with a more professional experience and a different perspective of the city. Since I worked at the Argentine branch of an American company, it was interesting to see how the business model and operations were translated to a different culture. Working on various projects at the office provided me with an opportunity to learn more about a city I already loved!

Although I lived in Buenos Aires for four months before starting my internship, I don’t think I fully understood life in the city until I began working. In my first few months as a student studying abroad, I tended to gravitate towards tourist-oriented activities, but when I began working I had a chance to settle down and join working porteños in daily life. My internship gave me the opportunity to learn about the work culture, the reality of civil participation, and the laws and policies of the government firsthand. While I learned about some of these things in the classroom, I didn’t feel like a member of Argentine society until I actually participated in it.

I am grateful to have received the opportunity through Puentes to intern at an environmental NGO during my semester abroad in Buenos Aires. As an Environmental Studies student, my involvement at the NGO allowed me the unique opportunity to apply my studies in order to understand new perspectives and challenges surrounding environmental issues in Argentina. In the Certificación Ambiental (Environmental Certification) department, I worked with other interns to assess the sustainability of offices and businesses in Buenos Aires and to help these spaces achieve higher levels of sustainability.

The Puentes Abroad program truly made my college career so much more interesting. Being able to have the opportunity to travel and get experience in a different country like Argentina was amazing. I got to learn a new culture and truly be immersed in the experience. While also getting real field experience within the natural resources and tourism field. It was an opportunity of a life time and the Puentes team helped me with every step along the way.

Puentes set me in the middle of the ocean, and I learned I could swim. This program ensures you explore your abilities and develop into a better and holistic being.

Puentes provided me a remote internship during a time of uncertainty and a world pandemic but still gave me the most unforgettable and valuable summer I could've hoped for as a student during these tough times. Through Puentes I was able to be a Social Research Intern with an Argentine organization that since 1989 has been working in public health areas with the mission to develop scientific research and actions for the prevention and promotion of rights to guarantee access to health and reduce the impact of diseases with a focus on HIV / AIDS. By being part of the team I learned how to work remotely and effectively communicate with others in the workplace, I was also able to use my Spanish at a professional level for the first time, which I really enjoyed. From Puentes I also benefited from weekly cohorts and workshops, I received tips on how to better manage my time and talked about international jobs or education abroad in the future. I am thankful for the organization Give a Glimpse for providing funds for students to intern abroad and giving me the opportunity to intern with Puentes this summer. 

The Puentes Internship program was a great blend of professional and cultural experience. It was also very nicely tailored to undergraduates by giving us a perfect blend of support and guidance that young people need but also space to figure things out for ourselves.

As an Argentina nonprofit intern, I enjoyed studying urban voids as a possible solution to the habitat deficit in Argentina. I enjoyed every weekly meeting and every team-building activity I was a part of. Being exposed to a different culture, while learning about an interesting concept, and formulating a definition from the nonprofit’s perspective and mission was a fruitful challenge. As a civil engineer, it is easy to follow the structural route and focus on the professional side. The Puentes program opened my eyes to a different lens; the social aspect of the field. Impacting the habitat deficit in Latin America, and in the world, is something I will include in my future academic and professional philosophies. Puentes bridged my theoretical knowledge, personal interests, as well as past experiences into one internship opportunity; and during these trying times of a worldwide pandemic, I am more than thankful for this journey!

The Puentes program provides a unique opportunity to work from a remote setting and expand your global view on the world. It has increased my desire to work remotely and to travel the world.

Puentes has offered me the chance to affirm that what I am interested in is possible. I have felt empowered to blend my interests in a creative way and to embrace work that I love and feel inspired by.

My internship has confirmed my interest in pursuing non-profit work, made me reflect on what type of impact I want my work to make and has solidified my interest in serving human-focused social justice issues. I am beyond grateful to the Puentes team for the extraordinary support and the amazing learning experience they offered me.

My Puentes experience really allowed me to explore an area of Public Health that I knew nothing about and expanded my professional interests. I'm definitely going to take these experiences with me as I move further along in my career. I just want to say a big thank you to the entire Puentes team for an enriching 9 weeks and for being some of the kindest people I've interacted with!!

Despite the remote landscape, an internship through Puentes was still an incredible experience! I was able to gain hands-on experience in a field of interest of mine while receiving valuable mentorship from both my internship supervisor and Puentes staff. This experience was a fantastic way to be introduced to and guided through professional opportunities in Latin America while developing my own professional expertise and experience as a college student. My Puentes experience was incredibly rewarding and exciting. From getting to do research on pressing policy issues and being connected with academics around the globe, to watching Argentine movies and learning about a new culture, I felt as though I had a summer like no other.

I loved my time at Puentes. Working at a female-led law firm in Argentina has given me valuable career insights and the hands-on experience to begin my path as a lawyer. Despite not being able to travel to Argentina in person, the experience was very eye-opening and a great way to gain experience during the pandemic.
