Program Activities

To complement your work experience on the consulting projects for your host organizations, your program includes cultural activities to help you get to know your new home city of Bariloche.

 

Orientation Seminar

Saturday, May 3, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm

Meet in the Hotel reception at 1:30pm sharp to walk together to the orientation seminar. Or meet directly at 2:00pm for the orientation seminar at Open Work Bariloche at Francisco Pascasio Moreno 370.

We will review important information on living and working in Bariloche, including recommendations on safety, health, transportation, local culture, and more.

 

Tour of Bariloche

Sunday, May 4, from 9:45am to 4:30pm

Meet in the Hotel reception at 9:45am sharp for the group transportation coordinated by Puentes.

During your arrival weekend, you’ll go on a tour of Bariloche to understand the city’s dynamic history and to explore the lakes and mountains interwoven throughout the town. You’ll be oriented in no time!

 

“Curanto” experience

Sunday, May 4, lunch during the tour

We will venture to Colonia Suiza, which is the Swiss neighborhood of Bariloche, to watch the traditional preparation of “curanto” during which meats and vegetables are wrapped in leaves and buried underneath hot stones.  After the “curanto” lunch, we’ll explore the market of regional goods in Colonia Suiza.

 

ART Gallery Visit

Tuesday, May 6, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm

Meet at 6:00pm sharp at Avenida Bustillo 11500 (enter through the gate to the left of The Station Patagonia to go to the little house in the back).

We will have a guided tour of Pablo Bernasconi’s art gallery to learn about the unique artistic style and creativity of this locally renowned and internationally recognized artist, while also enjoying a chocolate tasting at the gallery to indulge in Bariloche’s famous sweets.

 

Day trip to Puerto Blest

Saturday, May 10, from 8:30am to 5:30pm

Meet in the Hotel reception at 8:30am sharp for the group transportation coordinated by Puentes.

We will take a one-hour boat ride from Bariloche to Puerto Blest, where we will have a guided visit to the Cántaros Waterfall and through the Valdivian rainforest along the Frías Lake.

 

Farewell Dinner

Friday, May 16, at 8:00pm

Meet at 8:00pm sharp at El Mallín restaurant at Avenida Bustillo 11600.

We will have a farewell dinner with regional Patagonia food, providing us the opportunity to try new dishes, reflect on the experiences in Bariloche, and bid farewell to each other and to your host organization supervisors.


Housing

You will be staying at Villa Sofia (Avenida de los Pioneros 100), which is immersed in a century-old forest and conveniently located near Bariloche’s downtown. Amenities include WiFi, cooking facilities, and reception services.
