Bariloche Internship Program Activities

We are thrilled to help you explore your new home country.  Throughout your Puentes program, we will have diverse and engaging professional and cultural activities so that you can get to know more about this great country and its varied work sectors.  We highly encourage you to attend all of the events listed below, which are included in your program and have no extra cost to you. In advance of each activity, you’ll receive an email from us with further details and a request to confirm your attendance.

Remember to ask your internship supervisor if there are holidays when your company will not be online/working. You can find the national holidays here for Argentina.

Pre-Departure Call

In advance of your departure for Argentina, we’ll have a pre-departure call with you to review pre-program logistics and preparations and to answer any questions that you have.

Welcome Orientation

Upon your arrival to Bariloche, you will welcomed at the airport by Puentes staff and transported to your new home.  We’ll also provide you with a welcome tote.  Next a Welcome Orientation is held to tell you all about the city and the Puentes program. 

City Tour

During your first week in Bariloche, you’ll go on a half day tour of the major sights and neighborhoods of your new home city.  You’ll be oriented in no time!

Immersive Day Trip

We’ll take you on a day trip adventure to a nearby destination to get to know more of the beautiful Patagonia region.

Local Cultural Activity

So that you can dive more into the local Bariloche scene, we’ll do a cultural activity in the city to become more immersed.


INTERNSHIP oversight meetings

The following are meetings that Puentes will coordinate on an individual basis with your supervisor and you in order to make sure that your internship is an engaging and successful as possible:

Initial Internship Meeting:

In the first week of your internship, you will have a meeting to review the Internship Work Agreement and reconfirm internship expectations and project goals with your internship supervisor and Puentes mentor.

Mid-Internship Meeting:

About halfway through the internship, you, your Puentes mentor, and your internship supervisor will have a mid-internship meeting to provide a space to communicate learnings, challenges, successes, and goals and look ahead to objectives for the second half of the internship.

Closing Meeting:

At the end of the internship, we will have a closing evaluation meeting with you, your Puentes mentor, and your internship supervisor to review your deliverables and reflect on the experience and learnings.


ONE-ON-ONE CAREER COACHING SESSION

During the course of your internship, you may choose one personalized, one-on-one professional development session with Puentes team members. The session topic options are the following:

  • Resume building:

    We will do a detailed critique of your resume, and we will share our personalized recommendations with you and review resume best practices. Puentes Resume Guide included.

  • Job interviewing:

    We will do an actual mock interview with you as the interviewee and a Puentes team member as the potential employer of the target company or organization chosen by you. Immediately following the mock interview, we will provide you with detailed, personalized feedback on your interviewing style and response content, and we will share best practice tips, plus the Puentes Interviewing Guide.

  • Informational interviewing:

    What is informational interviewing, and why is this career-building tactic so underutilized in society today? In this session, you will learn about the ins and outs of the practice; you will discover how to find, prepare for, and arrange informational interviews in your desired industry; and you will analyze certain methods to maximize and maintain your new networks.   • International job curation:

    We’ll tackle how to approach the incredibly exciting idea of working in a different country, which may seem daunting at first. We’ll share tried and true tips and tricks on how to consider realistic job options abroad, how to learn about the destination where you'd like to live, how to make helpful connections abroad, and how to successfully relocate and adapt to your new home country. This session is meant to help you with your personal goals, so it will be highly customized according to your interests, doubts, and objectives.

  • Time management:

    This session will focus on the practice of managing oneself with respect to time. You will learn best practices on how to find a healthy balance for work, academics, and life in general. We’ll explore your personal time wasters and discuss specific techniques and strategies for how to overcome them so that you can achieve a more balanced, well-organized, and productive life.
