The International Intern:

Ideal intern candidates will have sharp research and analytical skills, excellent academic performance, and a strong to desire to learn in a fast-paced professional setting. Interns may come from diverse fields of study, such as petroleum, environmental, chemical, mechanical, systems, and industrial engineering; geology and geophysics; economics; business; math; marketing; data analytics; and computer science.

At least an intermediate to advanced Spanish level is required for interns to be able to participate fully in the program’s training seminars and to carry out internship project work.


The Argentina Internship Program:

Selected interns will carry out their internship experience in Argentina from June 3 to August 9, 2024. Interns will be provided with the following benefits:

Student interns will be selected to carry out project work in one of the following internship areas to help advance the core goals of Pan American Energy, Honeywell, Tenaris, Techint, CGC, Tecpetrol, Molinos Arg, or Vrio Corp. The intern will be trained, supervised, and mentored by a designated member of the company’s team in the related area of work.

 

Upstream Operations

In this project area, interns will participate in the exploration and initial production stages of the oil and gas industry. Also called exploration and production (E&P), upstream operations is farthest from the end-user consumer in the oil and gas supply chain. Interns will be exposed to the site production processes focused on detecting improvements, as well as optimizing the facilities and operational processes.

Ideal candidate is responsible, analytical, and methodical with an interest in oil and gas operations and familiar in the basics of drilling engineering. Knowledge in programming languages preferred. Academic focus in engineering (petroleum, chemical, electrical, electromechanical, or industrial), mining, geology, or geophysics. Intermediate Spanish level required.

 

Drilling & Completion

In this project area, interns will participate in the oil and gas process of making a well ready for production by reviewing and analyzing the historical drilling parameters from offset wells. Based on the behavior of the MSE and biological algorithm, the intern will develop a methodology for determining the best combination of parameters in real time. 

Ideal candidate will be familiar in the basics of Drilling Engineering concepts and will have previous knowledge of Visual Basic or another programming language. Academic focus in petroleum engineering, chemical engineering, mining, geology, or geophysics. Intermediate Spanish level required.

 

Downstream Operations

In this project area, interns will participate in in the Maintenance, Technical and Distribution areas at the Campana Refinery that are focused on detecting improvements and optimizing the facilities and operational processes. Interns will get a first-hand view of this oil and gas industry process, such as refining crude oil into gasoline, natural gas liquids, diesel, and a variety of other energy sources.

Ideal candidate will be proactive, have skills and knowledge on contributing to the safety of the processing environment, and works well in a team. Academic focus in petroleum, chemical, mechanical, or electromechanical engineering. Advanced Spanish level required.

 

Energy Transition

In this project area, interns will participate in the energy transition projects carried out by corporate areas with the objective of changing from an energy system based on fossil fuels to one with low or no carbon emissions. A great contribution to decarbonization comes from the electrification of consumption, replacing electricity produced from fossil sources with electricity generated by renewable sources, which makes other sectors cleaner.

Ideal candidate is methodical, proactive, and has an interest in topics of sustainability. Academic focus in environmental, mechanical, materials, or electrical engineering,. Intermediate Spanish level required.

 

Media Business & Technology

In this project area, interns will participate in projects related to entertainment, production and distribution of audiovisual content and the technologies that support it.

Ideal candidate is enthusiastic, organized, and willing to learn and work in a fast-paced environment. Academic focus in business, business management, marketing, communications, journalism, or public relations. Intermediate Spanish level required.

 

Sales & marketing

In this project area, interns will participate in the designing and implementing of targeted marketing strategies and retail projects. Interns will also be exposed to the area responsible for maintaining customer relationships, tracking sales data, creating strategies, and analyzing performance reports.

Ideal candidate has strong interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills, as well as knowledge of modern market techniques. Academic focus in marketing, supply chain management, computer science, statistics, industrial engineering, business administration, or sales management. Intermediate Spanish level required.

 

Trading

In this project area, interns will participate in the generation of data on estimated future activity and production at Vaca Muerta. Based on the data and research, the intern will analyze risk management associated with trading operations and the execution of financial transactions.

Ideal candidate has strong communication, critical thinking, and analytical skills, as well as a thirst to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment. Academic focus in industrial or petroleum engineering. Intermediate Spanish level required.

 

SUSTAINABILITY & COMMUNITY RELATIONS

In this project area, interns will participate in sustainable action plans by coordinating public and private efforts to create social, economic and environmental value for the communities where the companies operate, in order to contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and the Principles of the United Nations Global Compact.

Ideal candidate has an interest in topics of sustainability and is proactive, restless, and knowledgeable of global reporting initiatives (GRI, ESG). Academic focus in political science, environmental engineering, industrial engineering, data analytics, or international relations. Intermediate Spanish level required.

 

DATA ANALYTICS & Technology

In this project area, interns will participate in the use of statistical software, big data and machine learning techniques to help the companies analyze all aspects of production and consumption. Data analytics can predict demand, optimize production costs in real time, improve distribution, understand customer consumption patterns and predict future market behavior.

Ideal candidate is methodical and analytical with strong software programming skills and experience with machine learning. Academic focus in data, software or systems engineering, computer science, data analytics, mechanical engineering, or electrical engineering. Intermediate Spanish level required.

 

Operations & Logistics

In this project area, interns will participate in the process of grinding of raw materials, such as soybeans, sunflowers, corn and wheat, using cutting edge international technology, as well as the export of the final product. Interns will gain first-hand experience in the second largest oilseed milling plant in the world and be exposed to various other areas of the company, including quality assurance, safety and environment, human resources management, boilers and electricity generation.

Ideal candidate is methodical, proactive, and works well in a team dynamic. Academic focus in materials, mechanical, or industrial engineering. Intermediate Spanish level required.

Industrial Operations

In this project area, interns will participate in the development, production, and manufacturing of advanced company technology, such as mechanical tubing, structural applications, mining tools, and hydraulic cylinders. Interns will be exposed to facets of the operations such as product development, technical assistance, packaging and deliveries.

Ideal candidate is organized, methodical, and has strong interpersonal skills. Academic focus in materials, mechanical or industrial engineering. Intermediate Spanish level required.

 

SUPPLY CHAIN

In this project area, interns will explore the potential and applications of smart contracts in the Argentine oil industry, with the aim of analyzing how this technology can improve efficiency and transparency in operational and commercial processes. Interns will investigate the potential applications and benefits of technology in the oil industry, analyze the challenges and barriers for its implementation, carry out a pilot implementation study, and propose recommendations and guidelines for adoption in the Argentine oil industry,

Ideal candidate has excellent organizational, communication, and critical thinking skills. Academic focus in industrial engineering, petroleum engineering, computer science, or data analytics, Advanced Spanish level required.

The Argentina Internship Program offers not only an immersive professional opportunity, but also a dynamic cultural experience in Argentina from June 3 to August 9, 2024. The following are the key components of the summer internship program:

 

Internship

The focus of the experience is an internship in one of the core business areas of Pan American Energy, Honeywell, Tenaris, Techint, CGC, Tecpetrol, Molinos Agro, or Vrio Corp. in Argentina. You will be trained, supervised, and mentored by core company staff. Throughout the internship, you will have regular check in meetings with your internship supervisor in order to review recent and upcoming work. Additionally, your internship will be overseen by the company human resources team in order to ensure that you are maximizing your professional growth and learning throughout the internship.

 

Housing and Meals

Your housing will be arranged by the company with which you are interning and will be included in the program so that you will be settled into comfortable, pre-screened, and well-located accommodations during your internship.  Your housing will be provided both in Buenos Aires and in other cities in Argentina if your internship requires domestic travel. You will have breakfast daily and dinner daily; lunch is not included.

 

Intern Support

Your roundtrip airfare to Argentina will be paid for and booked by the company with which you are interning. Upon your arrival, you will be welcomed at the airport and transported to your new home. You will participate in a Welcome Orientation with the company staff to tell you all about living and working in Argentina and the Business Internship Program. You will also have health insurance, assistance with immigration procedures, and general support while in Argentina.

 

Cultural Activities

You will get to know Argentina through local cultural activities that will help you to explore the city and become as immersed as possible in Argentine culture, while also connecting with other international students. Possible program activities include a visit to the US Embassy in Buenos Aires, a tour of a local soccer stadium, and a bus tour of the city.
